Just-Baked Bread

Hudson Baking Co is a sourdough family-owned micro-bakery reimagining bread with old-world techniques, slow fermentation, and natural leavening. As Idaho’s first farm-to-table bakery, they’re redefining what it means to bring bread back to the table.

True sourdough is more than just a tangy flavor—their bread isn’t sour at all! Using the science of fermentation and sustainable grains, they create breads and pastries that are easier to digest and full of flavor. For thousands of years, civilizations thrived on grains. By supporting sustainable farming and the art of fermentation, Hudson Baking Co makes it possible to enjoy bread again.

Farm-Fresh Eggs

Rich's Chicks is a small-scale poultry farm in Nampa where chickens roam freely and thrive on seasonal, pesticide-free grass. They have unlimited access to the outdoors, as well as a spacious hen house and feeding shelter they can enter anytime—but they’re never confined.

Their chickens enjoy a specially planted, chemical-free grass mix and supplemental feed from The Mill in Meridian and Big D Ranch, both committed to quality, local ingredients. Eggs are hand-collected several times a day and washed with plain, cool water—never detergents. The farm stays poison-free, relying on a trusty barn cat and fly predators for natural pest control.

“This was one of our very favorite parts of summer. We looked forward to seeing what was in the box, and loved trying out new recipes. I've been telling all my veggie loving friends they should consider joining next year. Thank you!”

“I really enjoyed the produce. I think it is an awesome program and I love opening the box with my 3 year old each week and how excited he is to pull everything out and tell me what it is. I love this program and can’t wait for next year.”

FAQs

Sprouting answers to your most common questions.

What's in each box?

Our boxes can be filled with an exciting mix of sweet corn, fresh herbs, root veggies, brassicas, tomatoes, melons, stone fruits, apples, peppers, beans, squash, potatoes, onions, and other surprises!

When does the season start/end?

Farming comes with its share of uncertainties, so pinpointing an exact start or end date can be tricky. That said, we’re planning to kick off the season around the fourth week of July 2025 and wrap up by the fourth week of September. We’ll keep you updated if anything changes!

Can I add on extras?

Yes! Starting in 2025, you’ll have exclusive access to our limited add-on shop, featuring a rotating selection of items based on weekly availability. This is something many of you have requested, and while it’s still a work in progress, we’re thrilled to bring it to life!

What happens if I go on vacation/need to skip a week?

We know life can get hectic, and we’ve made it easy to adjust! Each week, you’ll get a text when our harvest is starting, giving you the option to ‘skip’ that week’s order at no extra cost. Any skipped orders will be donated to a local food pantry to help those in need.

Do I really get sweet corn every week?!

Sweet corn is Farmer Matt’s specialty, and you’ll see it in your box every week! Fun fact: in the 1980s, Farmer Matt traveled across the country to master the art of growing sweet corn in Idaho, helping spark its popularity in the region. That said, we understand weekly sweet corn might not be for everyone. If you’d prefer it bi-weekly, just let us know.

What if I have a food allergy?

Supporting a CSA means enjoying seasonal harvests while supporting your local farmer. While substitutions are rare to honor the season’s pick, we understand the importance of accommodating serious allergies. If you have an allergy to a specific fruit or vegetable, let us know, and we’ll do our best to provide a replacement.

Am I committing to the entire season at sign up?

Yes! When you sign up for the Wissel Veggie Club (CSA), you're committing to the 2025 growing season here at Wissel Farms. By joining, you’re sharing in both the risks and the rewards of local farming. While we do everything we can to grow an amazing variety of produce, things like weather and pests can sometimes impact our crops—that's just part of the adventure!

Please note that this purchase is non-refundable, as it helps us plan and grow for the season ahead.

What's a Processing Fee?

Our processing fee is 3.5%. This small fee helps cover credit card processing costs and the expenses of maintaining our website and online shop, while also enabling us to expand with more add-on options for you!
